PhD in African American Preaching and Sacred Rhetoric

PhD in African American Preaching and Sacred Rhetoric

42 Credit Hours

The Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) program in African American Preaching and Sacred Rhetoric prepares practitioner-scholars to be deeply connected to the church and also to the academy (though not necessarily via tenure-track, full-time professorial positions). Practitioner-scholars engage in scholarship from the perspective of their location in ministry, applying PhD-level research and analysis to African American preaching and other practices of sacred rhetoric. This is the first PhD program in African American Preaching in the country.

Thank you for your interest in the PhD Program.  Although we are not currently accepting applications to the PhD Program, we are actively working towards welcoming Cohort 3 applications.  We anticipate Program announcements about the application process for Cohort 3 no later than September 15, 2021. Please email admissions@cts.edu to have your name added to the list of interested students.  We are eagerly preparing a comprehensive Zoom Conference Webinar for interested students for Fall 2021.
